Funny comments/advice you received after having a baby
I'm curious if any of you got any advice that you found funny after giving birth.
I'll go first : a couple of weeks after giving birth my dad came to visit with his girlfriend(50f). It was August so it was hot outside. She told me to give LO socks, because he won't know where his body ends otherwise.
I immediately started laughing, until I realized she was being serious.

When my son was visiting my 97 year old Nana and it was time to put him to bed she told him "don't forget to take your dairy cow (aka me , his breast feeding mother) with you" 😂

My Dad, "You look so healthy!" at 10 days PP.
Thanks Dad - I'm not getting more than 4 hours sleep, just pushed a human out of my body and have stitches, haven't showered for 2 days and am covered in vomit.
I do wonder what it would take to look unwell in his eyes 🤔

The baby had a cough because he wasn't wearing socks and/or drinking cold milk (I exclusively pump). Umm no he had a cough bc he got RSV 🥺

My father told me not to try breast feeding again after stopping because the milk will "spoil" in your breasts.
level 2
Omg 😂 a man with useless nipples and have never breastfed. Ah yes.

Someone told me that cribs are built in a rectangular shape so babies can't scoot them out the nursery door. 👀🤷🏻♀️

This made me laugh so hard 🤣

2 things:
-
an old lady telling me that if I don't hurry and rub blackberry wine on my babies gums, she will have bucked teeth eternally. Also apparently giving them a few tablespoons of it while teething is "essential"…🥴
-
the classic, my Norwegian mother in law absolutely losing it because my baby wasn't wearing wool…in 95 degree weather. "She going to frost to death if she do not wear wool!" (It was honestly kind of cute of her, but I can see how a lot of people would find this to be outrageous)

Oooh I have another from my aunty: if baby is restless, rub butter into them

I'm still pregnant but partner's mum gave me her perspective on formula feeding, which fair enough, pros and cons to either way. But the way she said it was "you don't want to be a walking cow" 🤦🏻♀️
level 2
Hahaha omg what. My MIL formula fed both her boys, my husband just refused to breast feed despite her wanting to so eventually she had to concede. And FIL was very involved, did night feedings, etc, so for the second they just stuck with it. And it's really nice knowing she won't judge either way. But like omg, what a way to say that 😂
level 2
As someone who breastfed twice, I can attest to the said walking cow feeling. I think I quite literally cried because I felt like a cow one time.
With that said, totally worth it!
level 2
As opposed to cows that don't walk? Lol.
Not sure how old she is but I feel like a lot of women from the older generations (including my mum) have a lot of trauma from a lack of breastfeeding support when they had kids (not that it makes her comment ok!!)
level 2
Oh let me just flip my sleep/wake switch!!!
level 2
The biggest load of crap!!! Nobody said your baby won't like her bassinet and you'll have to hold her for naps.
level 2
obligatory:
fold laundry when the baby folds laundry
level 2
Lol like you're going to be sleeping when the baby is awake
